A gem dropped in a Force Flick post, this Men’s Health piece about deep muscle fascia and the massive role it plays in posture and, by extension, body function, is well worth the read. Makes me want to turn the scalpel to the side and do my own fascia examinations in the dissection lab.

Great to see this stuff hitting “conventional” fitness sources like Men’s Health. If you don’t already, consider foam rolling and mobility work as part of your warm-up routine.

    Mackey,

While poking around in some of these links, I stumbled upon Z-Health (www.zhealth.net). Not sure if you've run into them before, but their stuff seems pretty legit – he's got some youtube videos that are pretty solid (www.youtube.com/user/MikeTNelson). Interesting research concerning the neuromuscular system's ability to generate limitations in motor unit recruitment and range of motion, and how to (safely) overcome them.

Hey, sorry on the super-late response; I am familiar with Z-health in concept; I've never tried it myself though. I have found that mobility work similar to what they advocate (I'm thinking of magnificent mobility, which is admittedly a little different) does help a lot for injury prevention and can make a big difference in performance as well (just a little loosening of hte hips can go a long way…).

I'll try and give the youtube videos a look sometime soon. Thanks!
