Ibu and You
Via Jim Biancolo, interesting research claiming ibuprofen (taken chronically, for endurance athletes) paradoxically contributes to MORE inflammation.
I always view prescriptive articles based off of one study with skepticism, but it’s worth considering–I have heard before of ibuprofen’s disruptive effect on muscle rebuilding/recovery, and there are some health risks associated with (very high, sustained) usage, so be wary of treating it as a vitamin, despite the joking reference.

I'm allergic to ibuprofen, and oddly enough, taking even a little bit both exacerebates the inflammation it's supposed to treat, and also makes my face break out in hives (an inflammatory condition).
This is a different angle than the study takes, but maybe overuse creates an allergy situation as a step beyond increasing tolerance for the drug? Far-fetched perhaps, and I'm no doctor, but it's known to happen with other allergens.
I'd actually think of it more as a situation where chronic use downregulates the body's own anti-inflammatory mechanisms, such that ibuprofen alone can no longer cover it (as opposed to typical situations, where ibuprofen works in addition to the body's natural mechanisms).
Of course, I'm only three weeks into medical school, and about a year away from pathology, so I could be way off base.
