Throwing with Touch
A little busy at work (need to prep a class on Christmas) and a little starved for inspiration of late…but check out this RSD thread on throwing with touch I posted in a couple weeks back.
My opinion is already there, but there appears to be some dissention. What’s yours? How did you learn about throwing with touch? How have you taught (or would teach) others?
I usually tell rookie throwers to think about throwing to a point on the field, rather than passing on a line that includes said point (ie, throwing to space), and that at least goes towards taking the laser out. Please chime in with your own experiences.

I’ve always thought the most important time to use touch is when i’m on the sideline, making the throw to the dump who’s cutting with his back to me, running to the center of the field (the fupa cut). It’s really easy to practice and forces me to put a lot of spin but very little speed on the disc.
THE FACE,
Agreed. Shades of Kell last year…thoughts of Socks making split-second bids for laser-y dumps. definitely big.
Especially the forehand dump, that’s one that still gets away from me every so often.
When trying to throw short throws with touch, I like to think about it as throwing with less arm, just wrist. Practicing throwing without pivoting can help isolate just your wrist snap.
In general, Jacob hit the nail on the head in his RSD post. The front lip of the disc has to be slightly tilted up as the disc is flying flat.
